Bizliners for delegations and families

ACJ TwoTwenty, ACJ319neo or BBJ: Choosing a Gulf Bizliner

Updated September 2026 ยท for Gulf delegations and family offices

Bizliners are the Gulf's signature top end. Ruling families, government fleets and the largest groups fly them because no purpose-built jet offers a bedroom, a dining room and a meeting room in one cabin. Three aircraft cover most of what Gulf buyers ask us about: the Airbus ACJ TwoTwenty, also written ACJ 220 or ACJ220, the Airbus ACJ319neo and the Boeing Business Jet.

They are not interchangeable. One is new, compact by airliner standards and short-legged in practice; one is the longest-range Airbus corporate jet of the three; one has a production history going back to 1999 and the only resale pool of any depth. This guide sets price, range, cabin and tax side by side, then matches each aircraft to the buyer it suits.

ACJ TwoTwenty price vs ACJ319neo and BBJ

Price is the first filter, and the three barely overlap. Treat each band as an indicative 2026 figure, confirmed against a specific aircraft.

  • ACJ TwoTwenty: about $80,000,000 to $100,000,000. Reports in 2022 put the equipped aircraft near $80,000,000 and a finished, completed example around $100,000,000 (Business Jet Traveler). Only a handful exist, so there is no public resale market.
  • ACJ319neo: about $99,500,000 to $107,500,000. Simple Flying's base figure is $99,500,000 without a cabin; the 2023 equipped figure was $107,500,000. Used examples trade privately and rarely.
  • Boeing BBJ: about $27,500,000 to $80,000,000. The widest band by far, because the family spans the BBJ1, BBJ2 and BBJ3, each with a bespoke completion. Averages run around $56,000,000 for a BBJ generally and $60,000,000 for the larger BBJ3.

The practical consequence: an ACJ 220 price discussion is always about a new or near-new aircraft, while a BBJ discussion can start at a third of that figure with an older airframe and a cabin that may need work.

Range from Riyadh and Doha: brochure and operator figures

Published ranges are 5,650 nm for the TwoTwenty with eight passengers at nominal performance, 6,750 nm for the ACJ319neo with eight passengers, and 6,200 nm for the BBJ. The TwoTwenty needs a caveat. Comlux, which runs four, says its aircraft currently manage 4,100 nm, roughly nine hours aloft, and that the figure can grow to 5,000 nm. We plan TwoTwenty missions on the operator's number.

Bizliner range also moves with the completion more than on any purpose-built jet. Heavy cabins, extra seats and the number of auxiliary tanks all shift the number, so we treat the table below as a first screen and then ask for each aircraft's mission data.

Cabins: floor area, width and height

The TwoTwenty's 73 square metres divide into six zones of roughly 12 square metres apiece, in a cabin about 78 ft long, 10.8 ft wide and 6.8 ft high. The ACJ319neo is roughly the same length but wider and taller, 3.7 m by 2.3 m, which works out at about 12 ft 2 in by 7 ft 6 in. The BBJ is built on the 737 and, depending on the variant, offers sleeping cabins, a full kitchen, a meeting room, dining space and often a shower; each completion is bespoke, so two BBJs of the same year can feel like different aircraft.

For seating, Comlux flies the TwoTwenty with 15 to 18 passengers, while typical BBJ VIP layouts run 25 to 50 depending on the completion. The ACJ319neo's published range assumes eight passengers, so ask how any denser layout changes it. Cabin altitude differs too: Airbus quotes 6,400 ft at 41,000 ft for the ACJ319neo, a normal airliner figure and well above what the newest purpose-built flagships offer.

ACJ for sale vs BBJ for sale: what the market looks like

Supply is the least discussed difference and often the deciding one.

The BBJ has more than two decades of production behind it, so genuine pre-owned examples do appear, usually through specialist VIP-completions brokers rather than public listings. A buyer can compare two or three aircraft, weigh completion quality against price and choose. When Gulf clients ask us about a BBJ for sale, the conversation is about choosing between real aircraft.

The Airbus side is thinner. An ACJ319 for sale, neo or earlier, usually changes hands privately, and a TwoTwenty almost never comes up used; buying one means ordering a green A220 and commissioning a completion, which takes months. That is where a sourcing desk earns its fee: we find aircraft that are not listed, verify title and records, have an independent inspector go through the aircraft before purchase, and settle through escrow.

Maintenance follows the airframe. All three are airliners underneath, so heavy checks are the biggest cost events of ownership. Ask which approved maintenance organisation in the region can handle the type before you commit to a base.

Registration and VAT on a bizliner

Tax on a $100,000,000 aircraft is a budget line of its own. Saudi Arabia charges 15% import VAT on the landed value, about $15,000,000 at that price. Bahrain charges 10% and Oman 5%; Qatar remains VAT-free as of September 2026. On duty, the GCC's 5% common tariff is usually waived for civil aircraft, subject to customs agreeing the HS heading, and the BBJ has one extra route: as a US-origin aircraft it can qualify for duty-free entry into Oman under the US-Oman Free Trade Agreement.

For registration, the choice is between the national registers, GACA's HZ-, the QCAA's A7-, PACA's A4O- and Bahrain's A9C-, and an offshore mark. The first completed TwoTwenty flies on a Maltese 9H- registration, a reminder of how often bizliners stay off national registers for financing and resale reasons. Our Saudi Arabia buying page walks through the GACA route step by step.

Which bizliner fits which Gulf buyer

Put the three filters together, price, real range and supply, and the choice usually narrows to one:

  • ACJ TwoTwenty for a family or group flying within the region and to Europe, the Indian Ocean or Southeast Asia, who wants the newest cabin in the category and six separate living areas. Budget for new, and plan long legs on the operator's range.
  • ACJ319neo for delegations that need the US East Coast or East Asia nonstop in an airliner cabin, and have the budget for the most expensive of the three.
  • BBJ for buyers who want the most seats, the widest choice of existing aircraft or a lower entry price, and who are ready for heavy diligence on an older completion.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an ACJ TwoTwenty cost in 2026?

Reported figures put a completed ACJ TwoTwenty at roughly $80 million equipped and around $100 million finished, with the VIP completion driving the difference. There is no public pre-owned market, so each figure is indicative and confirmed for the specific aircraft.

Is a BBJ cheaper than an ACJ?

Usually, because the BBJ has a long production history and an active resale market. Pre-owned BBJs range from about $27.5 million to $80 million as of 2026, while the ACJ TwoTwenty and ACJ319neo trade mostly as new aircraft at $80 million and above. BBJ running costs are estimated at $8,000 to $12,000 per flight hour.

Which bizliner can fly from the Gulf to New York nonstop?

On published figures, the ACJ319neo covers Riyadh to Teterboro, about 5,660 nm, with eight passengers and margin to spare. The BBJ's 6,200 nm puts the same leg within about 10% of its range, so winds and cabin weight decide. The ACJ TwoTwenty needs a stop.

Can I find an ACJ319 for sale pre-owned?

Occasionally, but most ACJ319 and ACJ319neo aircraft change hands privately without a public listing. A broker with access to off-market aircraft, an independent inspection and escrow closing is the realistic route, and the completion deserves as much scrutiny as the airframe.
